Whisky #26: Lagavulin 16yo
Big Whisky Indeed.
Marmalade orange colour with an aroma of singed fruit, a whiff of burnt toast, infused with peat.
Peat riven through the dram like letters through seaside rock. The effect is tidal - sweet malts and a sip of sherry are caught up and thrown around by the dry waves of peat and the salty backwash.
It's big and it knows it. A corking wintery dram.
Tonight's weather - stone cold crazy with a suggestion of anticipation on the horizon.
